Arman (1928-2005) - Le Plein (Full-Up)

Lot 114: Arman (1928-2005) - Le Plein (Full-Up)

Estimated Price: £2,000 - £3,000

Description: the scarce multiple, 1960, comprising a sealed printed sardine tin filled with detritus used as a gallery invitation, signed and numbered 46 in black ink, the edition was 500, overall size 30 x 105 x 60 mm (1 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 2 1/2 in) In 1958 at Gallery Iris Clert in Paris Yves Klein's opened his seminal installation "Le Vide (The Void)" - an exhibition where within stark white room sat a single empty white display case. The exhibition Le Plein was conceived in direct response, presenting the polar opposite of Klein's Void. In it Arman filled Iris Clert's gallery with so much rubbish that the door was jammed shut and the only means of viewing the exhibition was through the windows. The present work was used as the invitation to the gallery vernissage is a very scarce survivor of this early piece of environmental art. IMPORTANT: This lot is sold subject to Artists Resale Rights, details of which can be found in our Terms and Conditions.
