Christian Buchheit (1885-1974) worked for the Art Students League of New York as its Building Superintendent, from 1905 until his retirement in December, 1971. Description: Jean Charlot (1898-1979) FIRST STEPS (M. 317) Lithograph, 1936, on Poype wove paper, printed by George Miller, published by American Artists Group, New York; together with FIRST STEPS (M. 485), lithograph, 1946, the second (final) state, signed in pencil, from the edition of 250, on wove paper, commissioned by Associated American Artists, printed at Taller de Grafica Popular, Mexico, each with wide margins, in good condition except the first with two spots of adhesive discoloration at the upper sheet corners, the second with pale mat stain and a few fox marks in the margins, scattered pale foxing on the verso (2 prints) largest 356 by 228mm. 14 by 9in.
