  • CHOPPING, Richard (1917-2008, illustrator) – David BENEDICTUS (b. 1938).  The Fourth of June. London: The Book Club, 1962. 8vo. Half title. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in black, dust-jacket with price of 18s. unclipped (some very minor chipping and very light staining to lower cover). FIRST EDITION. The front turn-in is SIGNED by Chopping (“Richard W. Chopping”) with a further inscription by him, “I wish I still looked like this”, referring to the front cover of the wrapper which bears a (printed) youthful self-portrait by Chopping. The artist is best-known for his dust-jacket designs for nine of Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, starting with From Russian With Love in 1957. Register to bid
