Marcel Dyf Biography
(b Paris, France, 1899; d Paris, France, 1985) French Painter. While Marcel Dyf exhibited artistic promise at a young age, it was not until his twenties that he pursued his talents. Dyf painted still-life scenes of flowers and gardens, but his true passion lay in portraiture. His wife, Claudine, became a frequent subject of his work. Dyf later experimented with landscapes in which he relayed texture, unique color, and a gracefulness that strengthened his reputation as a remarkable painter. His work, often identified with the Impressionism Movement, was exhibited at the esteemed House of Petrides, Paris in 1949, 1951, and 1953. In later years, Marcel Dyf continued to create and display his work, showing in London throughout the early 1980s until his death in 1985.
