She
grew
up
in
Rockland,
ME,
having
moved

with
her
family

lumberyard.
Shortly
after
her
marriage
to
Charles
Nevelson
in
1920,
she
moved
with
her
husband
to
New
York
and
began
to
educate
herself
as
an
actress,
pianist,
dancer,
singer
