Willem Romeijn Biography
(b Haarlem, c. 1624; d ?Haarlem, after 1693). Dutch painter and draughtsman. In 1642 he was a pupil of Nicolaes Berchem in Haarlem. His earliest dated painting is from 1645. By 1646 he had become a master of Haarlems Guild of St Luke, of which he was an overman in 165960 and 1677. In 165051 he was living in Rome, where he belonged to the second generation of DUTCH ITALIANATES. There are two extant drawings dating from this stay in Rome (Knab; sometimes attributed to others).
