Jan van Huysum Biography

(b Amsterdam, 15 April 1682; d Amsterdam, 8 Feb 1749). Painter and draughstman. Although he painted and drew classicizing landscapes, he is best-known as the last important representative of Dutch FLOWER PAINTING, a tradition he carried into the mid-18th century.
