Alberto Viani Biography
(b Quistello, nr Mantua, 26 March 1906; d 1989). Italian sculptor, etcher and draughtsman. He studied sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice and from 1944 to 1947 was assistant to Arturo Martini, whom he succeeded as Professor of Sculpture. In 1946 he was a founder-member with Renato Birolli and others of the Nuova Secessione Artistica Italiana, an association of artists embracing new trends that was soon renamed FRONTE NUOVO DELLE ARTI.
