Virginio Vona Biography

Petit, Virginio Vona, an Italian painter living in the northeast of Essonne, already loved special forces. "They act in the shade and I wanted to pay tribute to them after the attacks of November 13th. This Thursday evening, he offered the Red November work to the commander who heads the communication cell of the Raid.

"On the evening of November 13, I watched football and then I started to see what had happened. It was like war. There was the Raid, the artist remembers. The next day, I took the Gare de Lyon train. It was desolation in Paris. I quickly wanted to offer them a canvas. "Kristof Mahen, agent of Virginio Vona says:" I wrote to the President of the Republic. We were directed to the Ministry of the Interior and the Raid informed us that they were flattered by this proposal. "

Virginio Vona continues: "It is a tribute to the forces of order. Especially in this context of grumbling. I salute their dedication. This painting is an allegory. On one side, the Raid, the phoenix that reappears from its ashes above, and on the other the evil, the terrorists represented as robots in green. There is the cock, triumphant and the red white blue flag "like freedom guiding the people of Delacroix" continues the artist.

"Guys are really excited"

It was after a long suspense that the work was unveiled to the public and to the commander of the Raid. "The guys are really happy, this gesture really touched them," he says. It is a proof of confidence, and for us it is the most important. "

Another canvas pays tribute to the forces of order. "I painted it after the attack on Charlie Hebdo," says Virginia Vona. She calls herself Marianne. And Marianne weeps tears of blood.

The exhibition of the works of Virginio Vona lasts until December 11 at the Orangerie of the Park Caillebotte in Yerres. From Tuesday to Friday from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm and on weekends from 10 am to 12 am and from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
