    Abell Auction has been a family-run, serviced-oriented business since 1916.Originally a furniture store in Los Angeles, founder A.N. Abell bought the business from a family member in 1912, changed the name to Liberty Auctions and transformed it into a successful antique store with a rich and beautiful tradition. Liberty Auctions was eventually relocated to West Adams, renamed A.N. Abell Auction Company.


    At A.N. Abell Auction Company, it is evident that “Tradition is Timeless”. With each passing year Abell Auction has accrued a community of loyal customers with its impeccable service, providing an environment where personal time and attention is at the forefront and quality is expected.


    With a century of experience in fine art and antiques, Abell offers a number of extraordinary objects with its weekly estate auctions every Thursday featuring over 1,000 items including fine furniture and furnishings, jewelry, silver, paintings and prints, along with an eclectic assortment of household and other items. Quarterly, Abell offers a catalogued auction of antiques, fine art and decorations. Highlights have ranged from European to Chinese, traditional to contemporary, and exquisite silver and jewelry to singular sculptures and paintings. Notable sales include the famous Hokusai painting "Kanagawa Oki Nami Ura" sold for $56,060, and a Flora Danica chinaware collection for $92,115.

    Originally born in Kiev, Russia, Abraham Abell came to the United States in 1907 and settled in California before soon beginning his enterprise into antiques.. After this death, his eldest son, Robert Abell, and nephew Willard Schireson took on responsibility, continuing to develop their predecessor's company into the internationally renowned business it is now.
