  • History & Reputation

Based in Mannheim, Germany, Auktionen Dr. Crott is best known for auctioning fine, rare, and antique timepieces, such as pocket watches, classic wristwatches, and clocks. The auction house also deals in fine snuff boxes and music boxes, many of which are of museum quality. Auktionen Dr. Crott was founded in 1975 by timepiece expert and collector Dr. Helmut Crott. Upon his retirement in 1993, Crott passed the business on to timepiece enthusiast and expert Stefan Muser, who carries on the auction house's tradition of excellence in this specialty field. Aside from offering in-person and anonymous bidding, Auktionen Dr. Crott also offers live online auctions through for watches, clocks and snuff boxes.

Auktionen Dr. Crott has set records over the years, gaining worldwide attention in 2004 during its 69th auction, which featured a rare Patek Philippe steel chronograph. Bidding for this exquisite piece reached nearly 1.3 million euros, a record for a wristwatch sold in Germany that the auction house still holds today. Famous collections have also passed through Auktionen Dr. Crott's trusted auction house. One particularly noteworthy collection was that of prominent collector Gerd Ahrens, which garnered about 2.7 million euros for the 600 watches that went to auction in 2007.
