At the same auction -- which ultimately garnered over £1 million in sales across a wide spectrum of the numismatics market -- a Russian 5 kopeks (1812) fetched nearly four times its top estimate, at £46,800, and a cast of the renowned renaissance medal portraying Roman emperor Caracalla in his youth brought in over two times its high estimate, at £16,800. Additionally, a Victoria Cross collection of medals achieved the record price at auction for any British medal group, at £408,000.
