A driving passion for automotive excellence...

A paramount passion for cars, exotic, antique or collectible, is what drives Rob Myers. The original founder of RM Auto Restoration and RM Classic Cars – global leader in the investment-grade collector car market – Myers has taken his professional restoration and auction businesses headquartered in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada and transformed them into a world-renowned group of companies.

Rob Myers' passion for classic cars stretches back to his childhood when he was surrounded by his father's various antique automobiles. After years of working on his father's cars, Myers launched his own single-car garage restoration business in 1976, and by 1979 the company was officially incorporated.

Initially the shop focused on repairs, engine and performance upgrades and eventually graduated to bodywork modifications and custom paint. By 1980, the company's success allowed for the construction of a large, dedicated restoration and sales facility. Throughout the 1980s, Myers was also actively buying and selling collector cars and was soon joined by fellow collector car experts Dan Warrener and Mike Fairbairn, who became partners in 1988. With this team of knowledgeable specialists in place, brisk sales continued, and they were soon consigning dozens of vehicles to collector car auctions. They were doing such a large volume of business with other auction companies (in the neighborhood of several million dollars a year) that they decided to open their own auction house. In 1991, RM Auctions was formed.

From its inception, the auction division has experienced consistent and impressive growth, establishing an enviable roster of collector car auction events located in a variety of prestigious settings. Such notable sales span the continent and include Monterey, California; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Hershey, Pennsylvania; Phoenix, Arizona; and Amelia Island, Florida, where RM partners with the world-famous Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. 2007 saw RM expand into Europe and the United Kingdom, hosting record-breaking auctions in Maranello, Italy and London, England. As part of the company's continued European expansion, RM introduced a new sale in Monaco in May, 2010, held during the same weekend as the 7th Historic Grand Prix of Monaco.

Four years after its European debut, RM Auctions continues to enjoy great success. In May 2009, RM cemented its position as the leader in the investment-grade segment of the collector car market, selling a legendary 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa for $12,402,500 to set a new world record for the most expensive motor car sold at auction. RM proudly holds five of the top ten – and more significantly, four of the top five all time records for motor cars sold at auction. RM continued its record-breaking sales run in Europe in May 2010, achieving over $45 million US in total sales at its debut Monaco sale to match the highest dollar single-day collector car auction in history – which, incidentally, was also produced by RM in Maranello, Italy in May 2007.

In addition to these events, RM has had the privilege of representing the sale of many noted single-owner collections. As specialists for estate and private collection sales, RM has attained considerable recognition in the collector car market by providing an unsurpassed level of marketing and cataloging services for such diverse clients as Formula One racing CEO Bernie Ecclestone, Orange County motoring legend Joe McPherson, broadcasting entrepreneur Art Astor, Michigan businessman John McMullen, and the 'Kustom Kulture' collection of Jimmy and Danny Brucker. In 2009, RM added to its track record of successful single-owner sales with 100 percent sell-through rates at the 'Nick Alexander Woodie Collection' and the 'Icons of Speed and Style' events. With a strong track record for consistently exceeding high estimates for private and estate collections, RM will host a series of additional single-owner sales in 2010.

As part of its continued growth, on July 1, 2010, RM Auctions expands by launching a new subsidiary, Auctions America by RM, and acquiring the 235-acre Auburn Auction Park, located in Auburn, Indiana. Donnie Gould, RM Auctions partner and collector car expert, was appointed President, Ed Cepuran was given the role of Chief Financial Officer, and RM car specialist Ken Wallace will serve as the General Manager. The new entity specializes in the sale of American classics, Detroit muscle, customs and hot rods.

The restoration business continues to thrive over thirty years after its inception. It has grown to be a highly-regarded firm selected to undertake comprehensive restorations on some of the world's rarest and most important automobiles. Year after year, RM Auto Restoration's work garners international awards and accolades including the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance "Best in Show" trophy in 2001, again in 2004 and an unprecedented "Best in Show" and "Triple Crown" win in 2006 at the Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, and Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance events.

Today, RM Auctions is the world's largest auction house for quality automobiles. RM's vertically integrated range of services - from restoration to private treaty sales, auctions, estate planning and financial services - coupled with its expert team of car specialists and international footprint, provide an unsurpassed level of service to the global collector car market.
