  • History & Reputation

Established in 1990, Semley Auctioneers is based in Shaftesbury, Dorset, and specializes in the sale of antiques and fine art, extending to fine furniture, silver and jewelry, scientific instruments, books, militaria, and more. Catering to a vibrant cosmopolitan audience with an eclectic palate, Semley Auctioneers has expanded to include a second office in South Kensington, London. To date, they have partnered with Invaluable.com for 180 auctions.

Prior to each auction, a meticulously itemized sale catalogue is advertised nationally and internationally, to maximize market potential. These efforts have been realized in Semley Auctioneers' many notable and record setting sales, including that of a First Edition 1897 Dracula by Bram Stoker, which garnered a record of £7,000; a pair of 1960's Howard armchairs, which fetched a record of £5,800; a pike-perch (Zander) by J. Cooper & Sons, which sold for a record £5,000; a group of five Mameluke hilted swords (circa 1900), which brought in £3,400; an early Worcester "Long Eliza" pattern cup (circa 1753), which garnered £7,400; a George III oak housekeeper's cupboard, which sold for £10,500; a George I walnut tallboy, which brought in £18,000; a 1920's Cartier diamond set wristwatch, and a Cartier "tutti-frutti" brooch, which achieved £16,500 and £27,000, respectively; and a pair of mid 18th century Italian console tables, which sold for £34,000.
