    Buyer’s Premium
A premium of 17.5% plus VAT on the Hammer price is payable on all lots. Minimum Buyer’s Premium: £1.75 per lot + VAT.

In order to avoid delay in clearing purchases, buyers who are unknown to us are advised to arrange before the sale for the payment details to be supplied. If such arrangements are not made, cheques will be cleared before lots can be made available for collection. Payment must be received before collection. Cheques are accepted by buyers known to us. No exceptions.

    - We can accept most credit or debit cards with the Buyer present at the Sale for which a charge will be made.
    - We can accept most credit and debit cards through PayPal for which a charge will be made.
    - Please make the necessary arrangements prior to bidding.

    Purchaser's Condition Reports
Purchasers are reminded to examine items carefully prior to sale. Whilst the Auctioneers are willing to give verbal condition reports these may not reveal certain imperfections in any lot. The exact physical condition, the extent of any defect, restoration, or repair must be ascertained by the intending purchasers by thorough inspection of the lots prior to bidding at the sale or by photographs.

The Auctioneers take no responsibility whatsoever for the condition of any lots included in sales.

    Potential Buyers
You are advised to check with the Saleroom before travelling any distance in case of last minute cancellations, alterations or additional lots.

    Starting Times & Bidding
Please check the sale starting time and any withdrawals, as these will affect the times your lots come up. Auction speeds generally vary between approximately 150 to 200 lots per hour, but please check with the Office.

    - Bidding is in increments of £5.00 – no less.
    - Indicate clearly that you are bidding by raising a catalogue or a hand.

    Commission Bids
If you are not able to attend the Sale, the Auctioneer or his staff, will bid on your behalf. Commission bids are carried out free of charge. Please fully complete the Commission Bidding Form available in the Sale Room Office and leave it at the Reception Desk. Make sure your name, address, telephone number and email address (if applicable) are legible. Where details cannot be deciphered or, if there is any doubt, commissions will not be executed.

    - Bids will not be executed unless the bidder provides adequate information – ie. full contact details (address, phone numbers, email).
    - Bids will not be accepted under £5.00 per lot.
    - Bids will be executed as cheaply as permitted by other bids or reserves, if any.
    - Where identical bids are left for the same lot, the earlier bid left will take precedence.
    - An instruction to buy with no upper limit will not be accepted.
    - Buyer’s Premium is subject to VAT at the current rate.

Please ensure that we receive your bid at least 1 hour before the start of the sale. It may not be possible to execute bids received after the start of the sale.

    Telephone Bidding
The Auctioneers are pleased to execute telephone bidding with no lower limits. However, they reserve the right to charge for overseas calls. Please ensure you provide us with full contact details and, if possible, an alternative telephone number and an email address (where applicable).

If your bid is successful payment, together with any buyer's premium and VAT payable, is DUE BY 6.00 pm ON THE DAY OF THE SALE. NO EXCEPTIONS. To avoid delay in clearing purchases, buyers unknown to us are advised to make arrangements for payment or for references to be supplied before the Sale. If such arrangements are not made, cheques will be cleared before purchases are released for collection.

If you wish to arrange collection of any item after 12.00 noon on the day after the Sale, you must let us know prior to items being returned to the store so that we can reserve them for you pending payment and collection.

The Auctioneers will be pleased to arrange for the collection of any items for future sales or the delivery of any purchases for a reasonable charge. Alternatively, you may contact our current removal contractor.

A charge of £3.00 per day will apply to all small items (per lot) plus a charge of £5.00 for transporting them from the sale room to our stores.

We will endeavour to advise successful commission bidders as soon as possible. However, are not able to notify all successful bidders by telephone during or immediately after the Sale. It is the bidder’s responsibility to contact us on the telephone numbers, published in the Catalogue and on our websites and during the hours specified.

We reserve the right to refuse bids or accept commissions if any of our conditions of sale are not followed. When registering online, please ensure we have all the correct details – ie. your telephone number, email address and contact address – otherwise your bid(s) will not be accepted.

E-mails, Image & Condition Report Requests
These must be received by 12 noon on the Friday prior to the Saturday sale. We are pleased to send images to enable you to evaluate an item, but we do not have the equipment to study restoration techniques or covered damage and can only relay what can be seen by the naked eye. If you need to know the detailed condition of any item in a forthcoming auction, please either view the item yourself or delegate someone to view it for you.

    Storage & Removal Charges
Unless notified in advance – ie. at the end of the sale - items that have not been collected by 12 noon on the day after the sale will be removed to our storage depot where they will be stored. Removal and storage charges will be added to the purchaser’s bill.

NOTE: If payment remains outstanding and items are not paid for and collected within 5 WORKING DAYS of the Sale, 10% will be added to the invoice every 5 WORKING DAYS. If we have not received payment after 30 days, the item(s) will be offered for sale to the under-bidder and any charges will be deducted from the net proceeds.

    Collection of Items
    - No item will be released until all charges have been settled.
    - Items are available for collection from the Sale Room up until 12.00 noon the day after the Sale has taken place, after which they will be taken directly to our Stores (see Charges).
    - Large items will be charged at £10.00 per lot for transport and £5.00 per day storage.
