Description: [Military/WWII] About 124 photos of WWII: with an image of bodies at the Gotha concentration camp and press photos credited to Heinrich Hoffman (1885-1957). Hoffman was a German photographer, art dealer and publisher who served as Adolf Hitler's official photographer and an intimate in his circle. ++ Signal corps photo (4 5/8 x 6 5/8) showing bodies stored in a bin at the Gotha concentration camp. Emaciated, clearly visible wounds. ++ 32 German press photos mostly by Heinrich Hoffman (credited in the wire service captions that are tipped to several versos). 4 7/8 x 6 3/4 in. Images include: A light machine gun team of the elite German Mountain Troops guarding the southwestern border of what the wire service described as the Greater German Reich (Austria), on his belly, with a machine gun,surrounded by snow (Oct. 2, 1939); A prototype of a new German armored car (tank) under inspection; maneuvers of the German army, with a Field Howitzer in the foreground, and a Luftwaffe spotter in the sky; Hitler visiting the chief training grounds at Grafenwohr (which is now an American and German Army Training Green), accompanied by Gen. von Brauchitsch (then in command of the German Army), Gen. Keitel (Hitler’s Chief of Staff), and Lt.-Gen. Haase (Inspector-General of the German Army) (June 27, 1938); Hitler viewing a motorized column at the maneuvers at Manovergelande (Mecklenburg, Sep. 21, 1937, 2 years exactly before Hitler invaded Poland); German military parade with officers on horseback and soldiers marching while playing brass instruments; 2 images that include Herman Goering; etc. ++ About 91 signal corps photographs of earlier signal corps press photographs. 3 1/8 x 4 1/2 in. Tanks, fighting, military personnel, field exercises, beautiful landscape, war damage, and rubble. 2 have tear to image. Includes a photo of the Gotha concentration camp victim photo. ++ Good to near fine. minor creasing mostly near corners, some toned, as expected. 1 has loss at upper left of image.
