High Grade 1652 Pine Tree Shilling Large Planchet Noe-2
1652 Pine Tree Shilling. Large Planchet. No Pellets at Trunk. Noe-2. About Uncirculated.
This very sharp Massachusetts Pine Tree Silver Shilling weighs 61.5 grns and has lovely natural silvery-gray color together with shimmering underlying mint luster with just a trace of cabinet friction on the highest points. This coin is well centered with most of the legends well defined and some of the peripheral letter tops off the flan as is typical for the type. The Noe-2 Pine Tree Shilling variety was struck from an engraved die with a very weakly defined tree, as exhibited on this example. This coin is superior in its overall strike to most, with hints of iridescent luster providing significant eye appeal. A superior quality specimen of the Noe-2 variety which should receive serious consideration from collectors.
