Vinson (Chief Justice 1946-53, Secretary of the Treasury 1945-46, Director of the Office of Economic Stabilization 1943-45). Typed date of “October 23, 1945.” 4 ¼ x 5 ½ in. ++ TLS by G. C. Marshall thanking the sender for his correspondence. 21 June 1951, Secretary of Defense letterhead. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army under presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, served as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense under Truman and developed the Marshall Plan for the reconstruction of Europe after WWII. ++ 9 cards signed by other members of Harry Truman’s cabinet: Edward Stettinius (Secretary of State Dec. 1944 to June 1945, signed the UN charter); Tom Clark (Attorney General 1945-49, dated “6/30/49” and later Supreme Court Justice); John W.
