1817 James Monroe Indian Peace Medal Struck in Bronze
1817-Dated. James Monroe. Large Size. Julian IP-8. Bronzed Copper. Largest Size. 76mm. By Moritz Furst. Gem Mint State.
Julian IP-8. 76mm. This historic medal was struck at the United States Mint from obverse dies engraved by Mortiz Furst completed in early 1819 according to Julian, with the second John Reich reverse die having "A" with flat tops, which saw its first production runs in the late 1840s and used in later Mint production. The color is a rich, satiny light reddish-brown color that is both original, nicely reflective and extremely attractive. This is the largest of three sizes issued.
