Description: Civil War Union Documents 1863 Civil War Maine $200 Union Substitute Bounty Form December 1, 1863-Dated Civil War Printed Document, Augusta, Maine, 2 pages, measuring 8.5" x 14", Choice Extremely Fine. Printed General Order No. 23, headed "State of Maine, Head Quarters, Adjutant General's Office." This unengrossed form offers a $200 Bounty for each enlisted man. Section for men to sign with a witness to agree to be mustered into the United States service as part of the quota apportioned to said town under the President's last call for volunteers. Creases from having been folded, corner bottom left was folded over, overall in very nice condition for display.
