Description: 1873 DAVID HUME''S HISTORY OF ENGLAND 6 VOLUME SET - 1873 edition of David Hume''s acclaimed series of books chronicling British history from the invasion by Julius Caesar to the Revolution of 1688. This edition was published by the Philadelphia company Claxton, Remsen, & Haffelfinger with the author''s corrections, improvements, and a brief autobiography added. The set is bound with a tan three quarter calf and colorful stone marbled paper sides. The flyleaves and trim of the pages are in the matching colorful stone marble pattern. The binding of the pages are all tight and still firmly attached to the spine. The covers have kept their vibrant tones on the marbled paper and are in overall good condition with volume IV possessing some damage on its back cover. Interior of the volumes are in excellent condition. Minor foxing is occurring on some of the non-marbled flyleaves and title pages of a few volumes, but no large flaws or tears seen. Frontispiece of David Hume and his signature is well preserved and its original tissue paper in tact in Volume I. This set is an excellent addition to any bibliophile''s collection.
