Francis Bacon (1909-1972) three studies for a self-portrait, lithograph in colour, 1979, on Arches watermarked paper, signed in pencil and numbered , XIX/XXV, aside from the edition of 150, published by Editions de la Difference, Paris, with full margins, (16.25" x 40" overall showing in the mount) (not inspected out of the frame) sold with an easel and two boards said by Miss Beston (see below) to have come from the Studio of Francis Bacon
Provenance; The gift of Valerie Beston to the present vendor. This lot is being sold by Mr Gerard Grover, who for 14 years was head packer at the Battersea shipping and storage company T. Rogers & Co., which Miss Beston used often to transport fine art to exhibitions around the country. She gave the picture to Mr Grover in 1988 on the birth of his son, Ryan. Another print in this series XII/XXV was sold lot 419 in the sale of the Collection of the late Miss Beston at Christies on 10th February 2006.
