Rare "Orville Wright" Signed Check Made Out to His Sister Katharine Wright with Photo of Both Wright Brothers 1920
ORVILLE WRIGHT (1871-1948). Credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903.
June 9, 1920-Dated, Partially-Printed Document Check Signed, "Orville Wright," 8.5" x 3", Choice Extremely Fine. Drawn on the The City National Bank, Dayton, Ohio, this Check is fully Signed "Orville Wright" and made payable for $400 to his sister, Katharine Wright. Katharine Wright Haskell (1874-1929) was the only sister who lived past infancy of aviation pioneers Wilbur and Orville Wright. She was a high school teacher and later became an international celebrity when she accompanied her famous brothers in EuropeCheck appears in very nice sharp vivid condition, punch cancelled "PAID +6 11 20" in upper center. Wright's impressive brown ink signature is crisp and bold, with no flaws or detractions. Check is accompanied by a 6.5" x 9.25" (by sight) black and white stylized reproduced photographic image of Orville walking with his brother Wilbur, professionally matted and framed together with check in modern wood frame, overall size 13.5" x 18".
