More About this Item

British title Chassis n° 12085 - Lovely restoration on this " tourer " - Perfect pre-war car to drive - Old-fashioned English charm - Collection Dr.Arnold Kawlath Launched in 1931, the Alvis Speed Twenty was equipped with a straight-six engine and three SU carburettors that produced 87 bhp. It benefitted from an updated and lightened chassis. Improvements were made in subsequent years and the SC model, as presented here, boasted a more powerful engine (2 762 cc) developing nearly 100 bhp. It was fitted with a four-speed transmission. Common for cars with a separate chassis, the Alvis Speed Twenty on offer lost its original saloon body in favour of something more refined. In 2000, Trevor J Hirst Restorations fitted the car with an elegant four-door, four-seater cabriolet body in the style of Cross Ellis, one of the coachbuilders preferred by the Alvis clientele at the time. The car on offer is in superb condition, presented in dark green, with lovely green leather upholstery. The passenger compartment is immaculate, including seats, mats and dashboard. The engine block is also very clean. The owner, Mr Kawlath, has taken great care of the car, which he allowed his daughter to use regularly for rallies. It has participated in the Milan-San Remo, the Paris-Deauville, and the Deauville concours d''élégance. Included in the file are photos of the car in the hands of its first owner. A charming detail, the original number plate, with the registration number it retains today (BWA 543), will be supplied with the car. This is a charming tourer, typical of 1930s British production. Its lovely condition, combined with the marque''s legendary reliability, make this car enjoyable and easy to use. Phot
