With the presentation of the 250 engine, Ferrari created a new line of cars that allowed the company to grow significantly. It was on the 250 that the "GT" suffix first appeared, for Gran Turismo. For the road-going versions, the understated PF coupé gave way, in 1960, to the 250 GTE. Designed by Pinin Farina, it was the marque''s first four-seater. The car was a great success from the outset, with almost a thousand examples being built.
Thanks to Ferrari expert Marcel Massini we know that the car on offer, bearing Pinin Farina number 68063, was sold new in Switzerland by Automobile Monteverdi AG to Mr Castelmarco of Basel. It was originally Grigio Scuro with a red Connolly leather interior as it is today. The car later went to the USA. In 1974 it belonged to J.N.Paulson from Illinois. It was subsequently sold in 1999 by Heritage Classic from Beverly Hills described as a good original example, grey with red original interior. In 2002 it belonged to a collector from Fernandina Beach in Florida. He registered it in the name of his c
