Lot 87: 1963 Elvis Presley Signed Thunderbird Hotel Cocktail Napkin - Signed in Las Vegas while Filming Viva Las Vegas

The offered Thunderbird cocktail napkin with Elvis' signature was obtained during a chance meeting with the King in the lounge of the Thunderbird Hotel in Las Vegas. The Thunderbird's name was derived from an ancient Navajo legend known as the "Sacred Bearer of Happiness Unlimited" and the cocktail lounge was decorated with murals of cowboys, chuck wagons and saguaro cacti. Elvis was in Las Vegas in July of 1963 to film location shots for Viva Las Vegas. The woman who obtained the signature was traveling and stopped in Las Vegas on the way to see some friends and take in the town. It was during this trip that she had the chance encounter with Elvis and grabbed the first thing she could to get his autograph, which is the offered cocktail napkin. The signed cocktail napkin has been affixed unfolded to a scrapbook page and measures approximately 9 1/4 by 4 3/4 inches (23.495 x 12.065 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
Condition Report: The cocktail napkin has been glued to a cardboard scrapbook page and shows signs of age and wear as expected with a fragile tissue. Areas of paper loss, missing corner and rips overall with none affecting the signature.
