Memphis, TN, USALive Auction
The film It Happened at the World's Fair, directed by Norman Taurog, was released by MGM in the U.S. in April 1963 and in Italy in September 1963, where the movie was known as Bionde, Rosse, Bruneâ¦, loosely translated as "Blonde, Red, Brown," likely for the hair colors of the women Elvis' character falls for in the film. Seattle, Washington was host to the 1962 World's Fair and the location for the film, in which Elvis plays a pilot who is trying to save his plane from being auctioned and falls for a nurse at the World's Fair during his adventures. The film made $2.25 million at the box office. This oversized and elegantly framed Italian poster presents its own unique illustration of Elvis with co-star Yvonne Craig, for obvious promotional effect, with the art surrounded by several depictions of our hero beating the tar out of a few thugs. It's an impressive, interesting and large example of European promotion. The entire display measures 58 by 42 inches (147.32 x 106.68 cm) and the poster measures 55 by 39 inches (139.7 x 99.06 cm). Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
Condition Report: The poster presents with moderate to heavy age toning, especially along the original factory folds. Small scuffed areas have removed ink but not paper, and there are small areas of separation and paper loss at the fold intersections. Colors remain bold and bright. Very Good condition.
