Lot 100: 1966 Spinout French "Grande" (One-Panel) Movie Poster in Framed Display - Elvis Presley in Le tombeur de ces demoiselles
October 29, 2016
Memphis, TN, USALive Auction
Directed by Norman Taurog and released by MGM in October 1966, Spinout grossed more than $3 million at the box office and reached #57 on the year-end list of top-grossing films. The film was released in France in August 1968, where it was known as Le tombeur de ces demoiselles. The beautifully framed, oversized poster in French, is a stunning two-color example of European marketing, focusing on Elvis singing and partying, surrounded by fawning ladies. He is, after all, the "heartthrob of the girls," as the French title declares. Framed dimensions are 67 by 51 inches (170.18 x 129.54 cm), and the poster measures 63 by 47 inches (160.02 x 119.38 cm). Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
Condition Report: The poster exhibits only very mild areas of toning along a few of the original factory folds, otherwise it is extremely well-preserved. Mild wrinkling is evident, as well. Excellent to Mint condition.
