More About this Item

Description: 1968 Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior

The current owner's father was a racing driver in the 1940s and 50s who drove a Maserati A6 GCS in the Targa Florio and the Mille Miglia. He passed his passion on to his son, who bought the Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior during the 1990s. Photos taken in the 1970s and 1980s show the car already prepared for racing, although precise details of this period of its history are not known.
On completing his purchase, the owner took the car to a top Italian specialist to have it restored and extensively prepared. Following this work, the car has participated in a host of historic events in the early 2000s, including the Tour de France Auto (four times), the Targa Florio (six times), the Elba Rally, the San Remo Rally (seven times), and the Tour of Spain (five times). To enable this level of competition, the car has been regularly maintained and was serviced recently by a renowned Alfa Romeo specialist in Grasse.
Part of this preparation has involved mechanical work. The car has 45mm Weber carburettors for the twin-spark engine, Autodelta sliding block, Bilstein shock absorbers, magnesium oil sump, Testa Stretta cylinder head...
The body has riveted wide wings and plastic side windows, and the car sits on Tecnomagnesio wheels. The interior has been stripped of all superfluous details such as window and door handles and floor covering. A roll-cage and bucket seats with four-point belts have been fitted and there is an
