Jusqu''à 1970, General Motors avait interdit le montage de motorisations de plus de 400ci dans les carrosseries dites " mid-size ". Avec la levée de cette interdiction, apparait la Chevelle SS la plus puissante de tous les temps, dotée d''un V8 454ci développant 360 cv sur la version LS5 qui nous concerne (450 cv pour la version LS6). D''après la fiche d''usine de notre exemplaire, il s''agit bel et bien d''une authentique version SS454 équipée de la boite automatique TH400. Parmi ses nombreux équipements, nous avons noté la direction assistée à faible démultiplication, les freins à disque, la prise d''air de capot (Coil Induction), le volant sport, ou encore la radio. Importée de Floride en 2005, elle a depuis bénéficié d''une restauration étalée sur près de 2 ans pour un montant de plus de 53 000€ (factures au dossier). L''esthétique d''origine a été parfaitement respectée, tandis que la mécanique avait déjà bénéficié d''une préparation poussée aux USA : pipe d''admission Edelbrock 2161, carburateur Holley 750 CFM, kit arbre à came L88, distribution renforcée, collecteur d''admission 4 en 1, pompe à eau haut débit… Dans cette configuration, notre exemplaire développerait près de 450cv, et pour accueillir ce surcroit significatif de puissance, 4 amortisseurs Koni Sport ont été montés. Accompagnée de son manuel d''utilisation d''origine, cette rare " muscle car " a été soigneusement restaurée et méticuleusement préparée. Elle a parcouru moins de 2000 km depuis sa restauration, il s''agit donc d''un exemplaire de choix.

Until 1970, General Motors had forbidden the assembly of over 400ci engines for their "mid-size" bodied cars. With the lifting of this ban, appeared the Chevelle SS, the most powerful of all time, with a V8 454ci engine developing 360bhp on the version LS5, the example we are offering (450bhp was for the LS6 version). As per its factory sheet, this car is indeed an authentic SS454 version, equipped with the TH400 automatic box. Among its many equipment, it is fitted with the (low) power steering, disc brakes, air intakes on the hood (Coil Induction), sports steering wheel and radio. Imported from Florida in 2005, it has since been restored over almost two years, for an amount of more than €53,000 (invoice folder available). The original design was perfectly adhered to, while the mechanicals had already been extensively prepared in the USA: Edelbrock 2161 intake manifold, Holley 750 CFM carburetor, L88 camshaft kit, reinforced distribution system, intake 4 in 1 manifold, high pressure water pump... In this configuration, our model would be capable of almost 450bhp, and to handle this significantly greater power, it has been equipped with four Koni Sports shock absorbers. Coming with its original manuals, this rare muscle car has been comprehensively restored and meticulously prepared. With only 2,000 km covered since its restauration it is a very desirable example.
