Memphis, TN, USALive Auction
Elvis arrived in Las Vegas on January 21, 1974, and began rehearsals for his January and February shows at the Las Vegas Hilton. The opening on Saturday, January 26 had Elvis performing two shows that evening. The four-week engagement was reduced to two because of dental issues Elvis had been suffering from, and so he closed out his performances with a final show on February 9th.
Offered is the typed song list for "Elvis Presley Show - Las Vegas Hilton Hotel / Opening Night Show - Jan 26, 1974" with handwritten notations at the top "Las Vegas 1/21/74 - 2/10/74" and notations in ink of "J.D. Sumner / Charlie / Sherrill / Charlie" next to the songs "Let Me Be There," "Lost that Lovin' Feelin'," "Spanish Eyes" and "Suspicious Minds" respectively. The list includes 18 songs, with number eight being a medley of six songs. This song list is stapled with a second sheet identified along the top as "Elvis Presley Show - Las Vegas Hilton Hotel January-February 1974" that lists four categories of rehearsal songs, including "new songs," "featured show songs," "medley songs and openers," and "others" for a total of 55 songs on this typed list.
A smashing set of hits which were likely arranged by Felton Jarvis, who began working with Elvis in 1970 on his studio and concert recordings. The list originates from the collection of Felton Jarvis and comes from the same collection as the other Felton Jarvis lots being offered in the auction. The stapled lists measure 14 by 8 1/2 inches (35.56 x 21.59 cm) and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
Condition Report: The lists are heavily creased from use, the original triple corner staple is still intact, and the top list exhibits minor residue spots likely from period handling.
