Description:

Elvis dominated Las Vegas in the 1970s, when there was no brighter star shining in the City of Lights than Elvis himself. Elvis may have held his performances at the Las Vegas Hilton, but the entire city was bedazzled by the magnitude of his celebrity. Colonel Parker and the Hilton took full advantage of his star power to promote both their brands in all ways possible. The offered bench back ad is a convergence of that marketing prowess and displays two big bold colorful images of Elvis flanking the Hilton Hotel logo. This brightly painted paper banner affixed to a wood back would have been secured to a bench to enable passersby to take a seat and rest with their idol forefront in their minds. The mirror images of Elvis have him with microphone in hand, blue scarf around his neck, belting out a tune against a red background that makes Elvis pop! The blue Hilton center logo complements the turquoise of the Aqua Blue Vine jumpsuit Elvis is pictured wearing - €“this very jumpsuit is also being offered in this auction. The depiction of the jumpsuit would date this bench advertisement to the mid 1970s, as Elvis donned this jumpsuit in the later part of 1973 and again at the beginning of 1974. What a marvelous memento to pair with an incredibly iconic jumpsuit! It doesn't get any better. The wooden bench back measures 24 by 84 inches (60.96 x 213.36 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

Condition Report: The bench back has great color with typical signs of wear one would expect of a bench: wear along the edges with a piece missing from the lower left corner, two drill holes for securing the bench are located near Elvis’ ears. The front is paper affixed to wood and there is evidence of some water damage along the lower edge. Overall good condition with stunning visual appeal.
