Description:

In order to more easily identify members of his crew in the flurry of activity during a live show, Elvis had jackets made for his team. Offered is an example of a heavier weight winter jacket belonging to a member of his flight crew on the Lisa Marie. The red wool torso of the jacket bears the "Elvis in Concert" patch on the left breast, and the white and gold TCB patch on the upper left black leather arm, which has been sewn on with white thread visible from inside the jacket. Three collar tags in the jacket read "34 Dry Clean," "Shell / 85% Reprocessed Wool / 10% Unknown Fibers / 5% Other Fibers / P-44764 / Size 34 / Linings / 100% Acetate / Lot 2462 / Men," and "The Jacket for Champions / Tailored by / BUTWIN / The Champion of Jackets." The care tag reads, "Professionally dry clean only. Cleaners: Use short cycle, light charge. Extract lightly. Clear rinse, air dry on form."

This fine example comes with a notarized affidavit from a female member of the flight crew, dated March 5, 2015, in which she states in part, "Just before the CBS television filming of 'Elvis in Concert' several boxes that contained red jackets, both lightweight and heavy, were received. These jackets were handed out to Elvis' group of people and to the Col. Parker group. These jackets were to be worn for the show, and each has the 'Elvis in Concert' patches on them. When Elvis boarded the aircraft to fly to the show, he personaly [sic] saw that the flight crew were given the heavy jackets to wear. I was given a medium size 34 jacket since there weree [sic] no small jackets remaining. I am the original owner and the jacket has remained in my possession since I received it on that special tour." This very member of the flight crew is listed as a flight attendant on the Lisa Marie flight log page dated 7/7/76 that was offered in a previous auction. A quality jacket in its own right and made extra special as one of the originals given to his team directly by Elvis. The jacket is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

Condition Report: The jacket presents in very well-preserved condition, perhaps worn only a few times by its original owner. Near Mint condition.
