Description: (2) CHEROOT CASES - Two Vintage 1840s American Cheroot (Cigar) Cases, both of handpainted lacquered papier mache with leather bellow linings; the first is a Presidential Campaign Token of 'Henry Clay, The American Statesman, Candidad (sic) for 1844' with poem 'Come every Whig, your influence bring, On this eventful day, And make the Western vallies (sic) ring, With shouts for Henry Clay' and retains the inner sleeve; the second is of the Hudson River steamboat 'Empire of Troy', built in 1843, she suffered the ignominy of being sunk twice, in 1849 and 1853; specs in block below read 'Extreme Length 330 feet, Breat (sic) of Beam 31 ft, Extreme Breadth 62 feet. Cabin 300 feet, 70 state Rooms & will accommodate 1000 PASSENGERS'. 5 1/2" x 2 3/4", minor scratches and crazing, mostly to backs.

Contract Information: If the purchaser fails to pay in full the total purchase price of all items for which he/she was the highest bidder within 15 days of the sale, TPAG may exercise all legal rights and remedies which may include but not limited to: terminating the sale and applying any payments made by the purchaser to the damages caused by the purchaser's breach, and/or reoffering these items without any reserve at public auction and holding the purchaser liable for any deficiency plus the costs of reselling the items. Any article purchased and not removed from the auction premises immediately following the sale will be at the purchaser's risk. TPAG reserves the right to assess storage fees for items left at the Galleries for more than 30 days after the auction.

Taxes on your purchase: A 5% Maine State Sales Tax will be added to all purchases redeemed at our facility by bidder or his delegate unless bidder provides a valid State issued Resale Certificate. Items shipped out-of-state will be exempt from the State Sales Tax, provided that TPAG is paid directly by the bidder for packing and shipping costs or the bidder provides a valid State issued Resale Certificate.
