Description: The year is 1972. I's summer in the mid-west. Carolyn, one of the young ladies mother, loaded up the sixth graders into the the Olds Delta 88 en route to the amusement park across the river. The girls numbered five and rode two in the front and three in the cavernous backseat. They were filled with excitement for their road tripouting. Carolyn was one of the more adventurous and certainly one of the youngest mothers. She knew that the girls would enjoy the back roads where in August, walls of corn as tall as an elephants' eyes surrounded the highways and by-ways. American Pie jammed on the radio. Crossing the Mississippi, Carolyn looked ahead and informed the girls that there was a convoy ahead. The girls squealed with delight as they coaxed her to catch up with them. Taking the challenge, she rolled up along side and when the truckers saw the preteens delight and saw them gesturing with their bent arms for the guys to honk, they did, each and everyone and what kind of horn produced that blast of sound? These chrome air truck horns! "and they were singing, bye, bye, this American pie...."
