Description: (3) Piece Lot Of Antique Maine Nautical Paper. (3) 19th Century Ship Share receipts for moneys paid to owners of fractional shares in various schooners In Thomaston, Maine. Each was for money received from renowned shipbuilder for their share of profit from the voyage(s) of the named schooner. The fractions owned are 1/64th to 1/16th of the ship. A fascinating look at the fruits of ownership of the schooners that Dunn & Elliot built & outfitted in the era of the "Tall Ships." From 1748-1921 Thomaston, Maine was "the town that went sea." Between those years around 670 vessels were built. Dunn & Elliot was one of the premier "square rigged" vessel builders from 1860 to 1921. They built every part of their ships including the sails, in a "sail loft" taken over by D&E in 1864 and continued until the five-masted schooner "Edna Hoyt" was launched in 1920. The last square-rigged vessel built on the east coast was a barkentine "Reine Marie Stewart" was built during WWI by Dunn and Elliot. Expected age toning & handling wear; none are brittle. Edges show light wear. Overall all 3 pieces are in Very Good Condition. ALL ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE ACCURATELY DESCRIBED, NOT DEFECTIVE, & GENUINE. PLEASE NOTE: We do all our own shipping.
