Tarzan expert Phil Petras began collecting in 1972, and his material, including books, original artwork and autographs, reflects the ongoing popularity and changing portrayals of the fictional hero created in 1912 by author Edgar Rice Burroughs. ++ A FEAST UNKNOWN… Volume IX of The Memoirs of Lord Grandrith edited by Philip Jose Farmer, Illustrated by Richard Corben, Postscript by Theodore Sturgeon. The Fokker Press, D-LXIX, A Subsidiary of Acme Zeppelin Company, (1975). Signed by Philip Jose Farmer on half title. 2nd edition, softcover issue. Currey (p184) describes the edition as follows: “1000 copies printed. Two binding states, no priority: (A) Boards. Note: No limitation notice appears in these copies. In a letter to the compiler, undated but circa 6 June, 1977, the publisher states: “Two hundred of these were bound in hard covers and signed by the author and artist [Richard Corben] (with the exception of those which were received by the same).” First hardcover edition. (B) Wrappers. 800 copies. No statement of printing on copyright page.” No limitation statement, but this one is signed on the half title. The softcover edition sometimes has red lettering, sometimes black lettering on the front wrap. This has red lettering. There is adequate room between the title page’s lettering and the upper/right edges of the title. 8vo. Near fine in mailer with Philip J. Farmer’s return address label. ++ LORD OF THE TREES.
