Lot 35: 35. Machine Age Oak Office Arm Chair
December 3, 2016
Graham, NC, USALive Auction
Description: Little known fact... In theory, it was Charles Darwin who "invented" the first office chair. "What?" you ask. Why, yes, in an attempt to get to his specimens more quickly and easily, Darwin attached wheels to the bottom of his chair so he could roll across his study. Created during the Machine Age, this quarter sawn tiger oak executive office chair dates to the twenties. Some call these designs, Banker's Barrel or Lawyer's Chairs. It is sturdy and solid with original period hardware that will raise and lower. Dimensions 23.5"w x 22"d x 34"h.
