Description: [Political Campaign buttons] About 46 items. ++ “Kennedy 60” lapel pin shaped like a Patrol Torpedo (PT) boat. Length: 1 3/4 in. Near fine. ++ “1940 Democratic National Convention” lapel button. Both the upper and lower portions are composed of metal (probably brass). Upper portion reads “Chicago.” Lower portion of the button is suspended by 2 small brass chains, and consists of 2 American flags and the words “1940 Democratic National Convention.” Back of lower portion: “Bactian Bros. Co./ Rochester N.Y.” Cream-colored ribbon attached to upper portion. (Ribbon now frayed.) ¾-inch circular campaign button on ribbon: “No Third Term.” Printed on lower portion of No Third Trim’s rim: Baction Bros Co. Rochester N.Y.” Very good. ++ About 41 other items: About 30 shirt buttons (including a few duplicates), about 7 lapel pins, and 4 jewelry items. About 19 are for Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale (mostly 1980 campaign-era, many 1976). 3 Mondale-Ferraro from 1984. 1 Adlai Stevenson (1960). Other buttons and lapel pins include 1 Barack Obama inauguration, 2009; 1 Gary Hart; 1 Berlin Crisis; 1 commemoration of Alice Paul (1885-1977, Author of the Equal Rights Amendment, stained); 1 Pearl Harbor remembrance; 1 National Zoo; 1 protection of the Chesapeake Bay; several irish pride; etc. Text/image sides mostly near fine, some shirt sides partly tarnished. ++ Invitation to the 1965 Presidential inauguration. Includes booklet, cover sheets, illustrations of President-Elect Lyndon Johnson and Hubert Humphrey, and admission ticket. ++ Programs for the visit of Morarji Desai, Prime Minister of India to the White House June 13, 1978. ++ About 18 White House envelopes. ++ 4 matchbooks (full) and 1 empty.
