Description: [Astronaut Signatures] 5 signed color photographs by astronauts Stafford, Slayton, Cooper, Schirra and Vance. ++ “To B. G.- one of the great managers of the aero-space age- Stafford.” Tape to upper edge of verso. Stafford went into space on the Gemini VI-A spacecraft (in 1965, docking of 2 manned space modules). In 1975, he was an astronaut on the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, which involved a crew transfer between American and Soviet space modules. ++ Deke Slayton. Inscribed “Best wishes to… [name]/ D A Slayton.” Slayton went into space as part of the Apollo-Soyuz program (1975). Handwritten on verso by another person: “Astronaut Chief & Original Mercury Astronaut/ 5-9-1970.” This is a reference to his selection as one of the “Mercury 7” astronauts, but a heart problem delayed his entry into space. ++ Gordon Cooper (2 manned missions, Mercury-Atlas IX in 1963 and Gemini V in 1965). ++ Wally Schirra. Astronaut on Mercury-Atlas VIII in 1962; Gemini VI-A; Gemini IX-A in 1966; and Apollo VII (1968). ++ Vance Brand (Apollo-Soyuz in 1975 and 3 space shuttle missions, 1982-90). Color, halftone, 4to. Near fine.
