Book Details: While this lot is dominated by antique books on philosophy and aesthetics by Emerson ("Books, Art, Eloquence") and Ruskin ("The True and the Beautiful," "Letters to Charles Eliot Norton"), 19th c. women's writings, less ethereal and more temporal, are also included. Mrs. Ellis' "Guide to Social Happiness" (1855), "Famous Types of Womanhood," and Mrs. Jameson's commonplace book fill out the lot.
