A beautiful flintlock pistol by Ghini, dating: first quarter of the 18th Century
provenance: North Italy
Smooth, four-stage, 12 mm cal. barrel with rings at the girdle, octagonal at the first part with remains of signature; flintlock richly chiselled with masks and floral motifs, sliding pan cover, signed "Ghini Loiano" at the inside; wooden full stock with iron mounts, engraved with floral motifs, partially pierced with snake and floral pattern. Wooden ramrod with iron mounts. For Ghini see "Der Neue Stockel", Vol. I, page 430; Alessandro Ghini is documented in Loiano/Emilia, Italy in 1725.
