Description: 7½-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, matted centre with mock pendulum and date apertures, signed on a plaque John Hughes, London, strike/silent dial in the arch, the fusee movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, verge escapement, rack and bell striking, quarter repeating work completely removed, the case with inverted bell top, brass carrying handle and ball finials, moulded base and turned feet, the whole decorated in gilt with scrolls, trellis and birds
PROSPECTIVE PURCHASERS SHOULD INSPECT PERSONALLY. Dial is dirty, silvering lacking from rings and plaque, partial mount missing from arch, minute hand broken and partially missing. Movement is extremely dirty, both fusee lines broken, all quarter repeating work missing, badly replaced back cock and conversion to silk suspension, poor repair to replaced crutch: it will require total restoration. Case is dirty but decoration appears to be in generally good condition with old cracks and scuffs throughout, brass mounts extremely dirty. With a pendulum and winder.
