Description: Slightly swamped, blued, octagonal barrel with seven-groove rifled bore in 13 mm calibre, dovetailed silver front sight and chiselled, triple folding brass rear sight. The muzzle and breech decorated with tendrils inlaid in silver, the upper side of the barrel with gilt rider mark and signature "JOSEPH KUCHENREITER A RATISBONNE" inlaid in silver. Wheellock with double set trigger, elaborately chiselled with rocailles (also on the inside), on the lock plate depiction of huntsmen resting near a pond, and repeated, chiselled signature. Walnut full stock with carved tendril ornaments, brass nose and patch box embellished with horn. Florally engraved, beautiful brass furniture, the original wooden ramrod with horn tip and unscrewable bullet puller. Powder measure inside the patch box. Well-preserved rifle of high-quality workmanship. Length 113 cm. Joseph Kuchenreuter, Steinweg near Regensburg, 1712-69.
