Description: A cubistic Karaboro sculpture. The Karaboro, like the Lobi up to 80 (!) percent Animists also nowadays, are living close to the Lobi near Banfora. They are using normally light wood for their carvings and they are stylistically influenced by the other neighbours of them: the Senufo. The size of their sometimes rough looking culptures is in general limited by maximum 40 cm. Larger carvings we never collected. It is only a question of time the remarkable Karaboro sculptures will be documented and hopefully also a little bit analyzed by a printed publication. We collected about 30 sculptures from this ethnic group.Sten Hagberg Between Peace and Justice: Dispute Settlement Between Karaboro Agriculturalists and Fulbe Agro-Pastoralists in Burkina FasoHook, A., R.
