Description: A Fabergé Mecklenburg presentation jeweled gold cigarette case

Fabergé, marks of August Holmstrom, St. Petersburg, circa 1890

Rectangular, with a cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, the interior cover and back with marks for August Holmstrom and with scratched inventory number 12229; engraved at right in signature facsimile, "En souvenir des journées passées ensemble à Peterhof et en camp, Juillet 1894 Friedrich" and at left, "Hold my hand and never let it go; I have put into it all my life; my dreams and trust; Happiness I thought I''d never know; you gave to me; so hold my hand until it turns to dust. 9th July 1939".
