Description: A female Lobi sculpture of Sib Koukouré, dead since 2011, characterised by a large pointed navel, tapering, hanging breasts, arms close to the body, the conical, elongated neck, surmounted by an ovoid head, accentuated by rectangular, bulging eyes, framed by beaded rims at the under- and upperside, the most significant feature of the sculptures of Koukouré; greyish aged patina. After Polfote Koukoure, who was one of the impressivest carvers of Latara, a small village close to Kampti,who worked for ritual purpose but also for the Western market. Nowadays his sculptures become rare.According of Daniela Bognolo Sib Koukouré isn't alive anymore (1955 - 2003 -Visions of Africa, Lobi, 2007; 59) but we found him still going strong in Latara and he gave us detail informations about Pal?
