PROVENANCE

Hotspur Ltd., London

NOTE

The design of this pier glass includes a number of elements which relate to the surviving manuscript drawings of the carver John Linnell (1729-1796). These include the pronounced swelling of the frame at each side of the apron, the foliate and flower sprays tying the outer frame to the inner frame, the almost separate oval-frond-framed mirror at the center of the crest, and the flower-filled basket above; see lot 6.
