Description: By Kaigyokusai Masatsugu (1813-1892), Osaka, Late 19th century. A square manju carved from white heart ivory with parrot amid a bed of peonies, one wing raised, and the flowers deeply undercut. The visible eye of the parrot is inlaid with horn. The floral design continues around the side and onto the reverse. Signed on the reverse, Kaigyokusai. 1 1/2in (3.9cm).
