A Fine Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock with Deadbeat Centre Seconds, signed Wm Bickerstaff, Liverpool, circa 1800, the nicely figured case with swan neck pediment, hood with front painted gilt floral glazed windows, six fluted columns, flame mahogany trunk door flanked by fluted column pilasters, rectangular frame moulded plinth with canted corners and raised upon bracket shaped feet, 14-inch arched painted dial with Arabic and Roman chapter, dial centre with a finely painted oval scene and signed, centre seconds, painted figural spandrels and the arch with rolling moonphase, four pillar movement with attached falseplate stamped Wilson, deadbeat escapement and rack striking on a bell, 260cm high see illustration William Bickerstaff is recorded working in Liverpool 1790-1829.
